Updated Status of the Barley from the Land

April 3, 2011 C.E.

The wild barley that was unripe or "Aviv" on Firstfruits on Day 16 of Month 1 on March 22, 2011 C.E. in the Jordan Valley was found to be ripe to over-ripe or "Carmel" on Day 28 of Month 1 on April 3, 2011 C.E. Barley ranged between 91 to 94 on the Zadok Scale of cereal grain developmental stages on April 3, 2011 C.E. Barley that is classified as 93 is falling out of the head in the daytime, and barley that is 94 has dead straw that is beginning to fall over.

In the ancient world, the farmers in the Jordan Valley would have wanted to harvest this barley before the crop was lost. If the priesthood intercalated improperly, it would have caused hardship and a lost crop for some of the people they served, as the omer count to Shavuot was initiated when the sickle was put to the standing grain according to Deuteronomy 16:9. According to the received wisdom of people who determine the appointed times by observing barley, the barley crops in the Jordan Valley would not be allowed to be harvested untill April 20 - 24 2011 C.E.

The wise will understand that the sun and the moon are used to determine the appointed times of the Creator of the unisverse according to Genesis 1:14. A single man's opinion has never at any time in Israel's history governed when Israel is to keep the appointed times throughout the year. Anyone who missed the Passover on Day 14 of Month 1 on March 19, 2011 C.E. should consider keeping the second Passover on Day 14 of Month 2 on the evening of April 17, 2011 C.E. which will occur on Day 28 of the omer count.
